WPFT and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center-Orlando are in full swing for Pink October! Each year, this month reminds women to get yearly screenings and to perform breast self-exams. We take this opportunity to thank our many friends and supporters - Panera Bread, Bloomingdales , Saks Fifth Avenue, Brighton, ABC Fine Wine and Spirits for their annual support of our cause.

A great video was produced by Growing Bolder for the 2nd Annual Walk For T.I.M.E. event, hosted by Bloomingdale's. Over 150 people participated and more than $2600.00 was raised to help find a cure. Thank you Bloomindale’s for your continued support of our mission to defeat cancer!

Please come and show your support by attending the Orlando Hope Hike this Friday, October 2, 2009 at 10:30a. Participants will meet on the steps of Orlando City Hall to join M. D. Anderson Cancer Center - Orlando and city officials in proclaiming October as “Pink October” in recognition of progress made in the fight against the disease. Please wear pink!

WPFT and the ANNIKA Academy, share a common goal of encouraging women to prevent and defeat cancer, by living a healthy and active lifestyle. Annika's weekly blogs are very interesting and are now regular feature in the WPFT Community. Click here to read her most recent blog.

Network of Strength offers information about breast cancer, as well as emotional support, including a 24/7 hot-line which provides services in 150 different languages. Callers are matched with a survivor who has the specific characteristics the caller requests. Click here to learn more.

Orlando's first Pink Dragon Boat Team – Warriors On Water – has completed the design of their new team logo. The Artist, Christopher Archer, was inspired by the Greco-Roman sculpture of Diana Goddess of the hunt and moon, with an infusion of Amazonian warrior history. Read the full story by clicking here.

To help launch Pink October in Central Florida, Orlando Home & Leisure Magazine donated a full page ad to Women Playing For T.I.M.E. to help us promote the WPFT website and social community. WPFT appreciates and thanks Orlando Home & Leisure Magazine for their continued support of WPFT and helping raise awareness about our unique organization.

Sales of the stamp have raised $67.6 million for breast cancer research since it first went on sale in 1998. “Stamp sales fund important research and help to build awareness … says says Elaine Pancake, customer relations coordinator for the United States Postal Service in Orlando.
